The Will Rogers Parent Teacher Association hosts its 6th Annual Love & Unity Festival on Saturday, March 1 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Will Rogers Learning Community, 2401 14th Street in Santa Monica.

Beginning in 1997, to honor Black History Month, the Will Rogers school faculty asked students to teach as well to learn from their peers the heritage and diversity of different cultures through food, poetry, music and art. Over the years, that vision has broadened and developed into a meaningful community event.

In continuing this tradition, the 6th Annual Love & Unity Festival involves and engages Santa Monica residents and others through a variety of enjoyable cultural and educational activities. The day includes Caribbean, Asian, African, and Latin music, dance, poetry readings, and children’s games. In addition, those attending will have a chance to experience different cultures by savoring food from the Caribbean, India, East Asia and Mexico. Lunch will be served from noon to 4 p.m.

By providing cultural and educational experiences through music, dance, and poetry, the Love & Unity Festival provides an enriching opportunity for Santa Monica residents and others to promote and build a strong sense of respect, unity, understanding and citizenship. There is no charge for admission. For more information about the festival and celebration, contact the Will Rogers African American Parent Group at (310) 264-4929.
