I’d just like to thank and acknowledge the Main Street Merchants Association and all of the people involved in putting on a wonderful day of music, events, and community fun in Ocean Park on June 20. What a very special and wonderful experience to stroll up and down Main Street, greeting familiar faces and getting to know new faces amidst the colorful wares, sidewalk bargain tables, and multiple music stages providing entertainment for the afternoon. A special round of applause and thanks to all of the merchants who made generous prize donations for the scavenger hunt, which was truly loads of fun.
Since I live in the neighborhood, I consider myself to be familiar with most of the shops on Main, but I realized that there were new shops I’d never been in and got to meet and chat with the owners and sales people of both new and old establishments. I love the mix of people in our neighborhood, as well as the mix of restaurants, nightclubs, retail stores and businesses that continue to come and go. It definitely established the sensibility of diverse, community involvement that defines the Santa Monica many of us are used to.
Thank you again to all involved in the event. Hopefully, it will happen more than once a year.
