“Coffee Break,” a health and lifestyle-oriented talk show geared to people over 50 that airs on Santa Monica CityTV (channel 16) and LA City TV (channel 36), began its third season on Aug. 4.

The one-hour show, which airs live on Wednesdays from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. from Santa Monica City Hall, features guests who are experts in health, lifestyle and issues affecting older people in Los Angeles.

Hosted by community leaders Paula Golden and Bob Klein, the show is a joint production of Saint John’s Health Center and the City of Santa Monica. Herb Isaacs, a local business consultant, handles the issues segment of the show.

The show airs from an informal, living room-like set, where each guest is interviewed for 15-minute segments.

Some past segments have focused on yoga, heart health, summer reading, foot problems, sex and dating after 50, and low-cost housing.

Guests have included Sean Tompson, international surfing expert; aging expert Art Linkletter; fitness professional Karen Voight; and authors Sheryl Forberg and Greg Critser. Local doctors, including back surgeon Dr. Rick Delamarter, heart surgeon Dr. John Robertson and orthopedist Dr. Bert Mandelbaum have been interviewed for the health and medical segment of the show.

“Our goal is to educate and entertain our audience, which is about 700,000 potential viewers,” said Dienna D’Olimpio, the show’s producer. “Paula and Bob, our hosts, have a nice rapport that really draws in the viewer, and the topics and issues discussed on the show have gotten a very positive reception in the community.”

The show repeats several times during the week on both stations. Producers are currently seeking guest experts for the next season. For more information, contact Dienna D’Olimpio at (310) 829-6585.
