Christmas is almost here and to help celebrate the holiday, a group of churches, businesses and private citizens have banded together to organize a program to celebrate traditions.
The program will start on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m. with a caroling procession beginning on the Third Street Promenade at Broadway, continuing down the Promenade to Wilshire Boulevard and ending at Palisades Park for the opening ceremony. All ages are invited to gather by 3 p.m. and participate in singing various Christmas carols.
The opening ceremony of Santa Monica’s nativity scene will take place at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, in Palisades Park at Ocean and Arizona avenues.
Master of ceremonies Bob Gabriel will introduce choirs from Santa Monica as the program focuses on the telling of the Christmas story with Christmas carols and music. Participating groups include: Calvary Baptist Church Choir, Lighthouse Church School Choir (Kari Czer, leader), Lighthouse Christian Academy (Michael Shaughnessy, leader) with others pending.
