Mean streets just got a little meaner

By Mathew Millen Santa Monica

I read the story about the arrests for the shooting at the low-income housing project behind Edison School, and the murders of Eduardo Lopez and Miguel Martin ( “Raids net alleged killers,” Feb. 9, page 1). I checked the LA County Sheriff’s Web site Sunday evening and discovered that Noah Farris, Victor Torres and Jon Carrillo — three of those arrested and accused of involvement in the gang-related shootings in Santa Monica — were released.

Why wasn’t the public advised of their release? With every shooting in the Pico Neighborhood in close proximity to a low-income housing project, are those of us who live adjacent to the projects in the Pico Neighborhood really safe?
