Pier JAMS, a new music program for area student/youth performing groups is beginning this weekend at the Santa Monica Pier with two a cappella groups from Stanford University.
The program kicks off at noon today with performances by the Mendicants and Counterpoint. Both are the longest-standing male and female vocal groups, respectively, in Stanford’s history. They are visiting the pier as part of their annual tour through the Los Angeles area.
Pier JAMS is an acronym for the Santa Monica Pier Junior Acoustic Music Series, a program dedicated to giving young musicians the opportunity to perform in a fun, high profile venue. Community and student musical groups that would like to schedule a concert may call (310) 458-8901.
