Looking for something to do this weekend? How about some music while soaking up the sun?

The Santa Monica Pier’s winter concert series begins this weekend. At 2 p.m., the festivities begin with the Tom Nolan Band, a nine-member classic rhythm and blues band that has been rocking the southland for more than 30 years with original songs and favorite covers.

Lisa Haley and the Zydekats will rock the pier on Feb. 9. Known as one of the best Zydeco bands in the country, Haley and her band devote themselves to the dance-on-the-table promotion of original, contemporary and ancestral rhythms on violin, accordion, keyboards, guitar, bass, drums and percussion.

The third Sunday in the series, Feb. 16, features legendary jazz and blues singer Barbara Morrison. Morrison has been featured on more than 20 recordings in almost every genre, from traditional jazz and blues to gospel and pop.

February’s final concert will be the Brasil-Brazil show featuring vocalists Ana Gazzola and Sonia Santos. Gazzola also is known to enchant audiences with her velvety voice and her compositions. Both artists are backed up by Quinn Johnson on keyboards; Fabio Soares playing lead guitar; Daniel Groisman on the bass; Sandro Feliciano, drums; Zane Musa, saxophone; and Claudinho Smile and Erock dos Santos on percussion.

The series, which is free and has been offered to the community for more than a decade, will continue into March. All concerts start at 2 p.m. and are held rain or shine. Events will be held on the parking decks. Parking is available in most beach lots and the Tide Shuttle from downtown Santa Monica to the pier for 25 cents.
