Christmas is coming early for a group of needy kids. Seventy-five children between the ages of 5 and 10 years old are going to Sears & Roebuck on a holiday shopping spree for new clothes and shoes on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 7:45 a.m. Donations to the Santa Monica Salvation Army from community organizations and individuals will provide each child with $100 for purchase of clothing.
Representatives from The Salvation Army Advisory Board, service clubs, business and the community will escort and assist each child as they make their selections and purchases. Sears representatives, community leaders and the Santa Monica High School Madrigal singers will be on hand to welcome the children as the sounds of holiday music fill the air. Santa, though not shopping, plans on visiting with the children and sharing a holiday toy.
Contributions are still needed. For more information or to make contributions to the Holiday Shopping Spree Fund, call Captain Eric Bradley, at the Salvation Army Corps at (310) 451-1358. Planting the seed for a healthier future
