I noticed that the ficus trees on Fifth Street also have “damaged” limbs, just like the ones on Fourth Street, yet these don’t pose a “hazard” requiring immediate removal. This suggests, to me, that either the city is negligent of public safety on Fifth Street, or, as most of us believe, they are misrepresenting their true motives.
Perhaps the $8 million grant isn’t enough for “beautification” of Fifth Street.
