(Re: “Single-payer health care is anything but free of cost,” commentary, Sept. 20) (The article) is an attempt to bash the Canadian health care system. The use of “socialized medicine” as a scare tactic gives a false portrayal of any future universal health coverage we may adopt.
In trips to Canada, we have talked with families who have had satisfactory care and who have praise for their health coverage. They are not shut out by the inflated costs of our medical-pharmaceutical complex, which cannot provide low income families with a necessary trip to the doctor.
