Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier has appointed Tim Defuria as director of government and community affairs, a newly created role aimed at strengthening the amusement park's relationships with public-sector partners and local communities.

Defuria, a Santa Monica resident, most recently served as manager of last mile public policy at Amazon, where he led multi-state legislative strategies and worked with policymakers and regulatory agencies. Prior to that, he was vice president of government relations at Strategies 360 and director of government partnerships for Bird, where he secured operating permits across the Western United States. Earlier in his career, he worked in the office of Assemblymember Richard Bloom.

In his new role, Defuria will oversee government affairs, community partnerships and stakeholder engagement. He will also support Pacific Park's participation in the City of Santa Monica's efforts to reinvigorate tourism and economic activity.

"Tim's deep experience navigating complex policy environments and building trusted relationships across sectors makes him an outstanding addition to our leadership team," said Jeff Klocke, chief executive officer at Pacific Park.

"Pacific Park is not only an iconic destination, but also a meaningful community partner and a central part of the Santa Monica Pier experience," Defuria said.

Pacific Park is Los Angeles's only admission-free amusement park, featuring 12 rides, 14 midway games and several food and retail offerings. For more information, visit pacpark.com.
