What are the local laws regarding pet (dog) ownership and the responsibilities of such owners when walking their pets in public? All too often I see dog owners who let their animals wander all over the place off leash, especially up and down Main Street.
I understand that these owners already have adequate public spaces set aside for just such a use, but that they choose to stretch the rules and tolerance of others by misbehaving as they do. I feel that owning an animal is a big responsibility and that their not abiding by the law is intolerable. Are there animal enforcement officers who can be contacted?
