Alternative rock heavyweights Sonic Youth will play an unlikely performance on the Third Street Promenade this weekend, cramming into the Urban Outfitters store along with a few hundred diehard fans (and a few determined shoppers).
The post-punk quartet will play the final show of a 13-city tour of free in-store concerts to benefit KXLU 88.9 FM, the campus station for Loyola Marymount University. The New York band is currently celebrating the reissue of their classic 1988 album “Daydream Nation.” Sonic Youth is set to take the stage at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Entry to the show will only be granted to those holding e-tickets, free at www.freeyrradio.com.
