Success in business often depends on the ability to adapt. Often the companies of today are won or lost — raised or razed — over the simple issue of change, says John Bourget.
The youngest of four brothers and one sister, Bourget is a chief partner in the Bourget Brothers, a Santa Monica-based regional lumber retailer.
It’s also a family business Bourget’s father started in 1947.
Having dabbled in the sale of building materials, construction, stone and tile work — even jewelry — Bourget says doing good business sometimes requires change, and the changes at Bourget Brothers keep coming.
“Here, we’re doing what we can to maximize customer service,” Bourget said. “I’m changing many aspects of our operation just so (delivery) trucks can get in and out of here with a faster turnaround time.”
