Local police have arrested two people who are believed to be responsible for burglarizing a local business and stealing a car in Santa Monica.
Brandon Birchall, 23, of Santa Monica, and Tammy Kim, 29, of Los Angeles, were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly stealing a car and being in possession of items stolen from a business in the 3300 block of Ocean Park Boulevard.
At 10:15 a.m., Dec. 1, a Santa Monica Police officer saw a suspicious vehicle in the 1200 block of Franklin Avenue. Information on the license plate showed that the vehicle had been reported stolen from the 500 block of 20th Street, police said. Officers conducted a surveillance of the vehicle and a short time later, Kim approached the vehicle and opened the truck. She was taken into custody, and led officers to Birchall, who was in the 1200 block of Berkeley. Officers recovered stolen property taken in an earlier commercial burglary and an automobile burglary in Los Angeles, police said.
Birchall was booked for burglary, auto theft, possession of stolen property, and felony probation violation for burglary. No bail was set. Kim was booked for possession of stolen property and her bail has been set at $20,000.
