Divots flew at OPCC’s (formerly Ocean Park Community Center’s) 7th annual Victory Cup polo fundraising event on Sunday, Oct. 1, when 300 people donated more than $45,000 to help provide food, clothing, counseling and other services to impoverished men, women and children on the Westside.

The event included polo matches by the Will Rogers Polo Club; a champagne brunch and divot stomp; silent auction; and Kidz Fun Zone with carnival games, face painting, pony rides and a petting zoo.

Proceeds will support OPCC’s Access Center and Night Light Youth Outreach Services in Santa Monica for low-income and homeless youth, adults and families, and people living with mental illness. The Access Center is the primary entry point into the homeless services system on the Westside. Services include a daily sack lunch, groceries, clothing, case management, mental health services, medical care, referrals to emergency shelter and transitional housing, employment assistance, showers, street outreach and mail service.

Access Center and Night Light are two of OPCC’s 10 social welfare programs in Santa Monica, including Campion Mental Health Center, Daybreak, k9 connection, Safe Haven, SAMOSHEL, Swashlock, Sojourn and Turning Point.
