Put feds on a flight out of town

Published:

By Julia Reeves Santa Monica

I support the City Council’s efforts in limiting the Santa Monica Airport to usage by Category A and B aircraft as part of the Aircraft Conformance Program (“Changing the flight plan,” Nov. 29), and in their doing whatever is necessary to relieve the dangers posed to residences located near the runway. The question, in my mind, is why should Santa Monica and Los Angeles residents be subjected to such great danger because the FAA officials “have labeled the Santa Monica Airport a reliever for LAX”?

I do not understand the FAA’s seeming lack of concern for the safety of residents, and their, perhaps, turning a blind to the actual danger presented by Class C and D aircrafts’ rapidly increasing usage of the airport.

Whose city is it anyway?
