While Kenny Mack proclaims that “the war on terrorism is a joke” and the innocence of Salim Hamdan (“Trial of Salim is a sham,” page 5, Aug. 13), [I read] an article about another terrorist from GitMo, Abdullah Saleh Al-Ajmi, released in 2005 after his poetry written at Gitmo was published and his innocence proclaimed. Unfortunately for the 55 Iraqi soldiers killed and/or wounded by Al-Ajmi’s suicide attack last March, they and their families will not be singing praises for this murderous poet.
While the world was focused on the Beijing’s Olympics celebration of “One World, One Dream,” the citizens of Georgia were awakening to a real nightmare of Russian tanks, artillery, and missiles raining down on them. Like it or not, acknowledge it or not, we all live in a world with murderous terrorists and subject to potential attack. That’s “World History, World Reality.”
