A retired Santa Monica police officer this week pleaded no contest to molesting a teenage girl, officials said.
Gregory McElveen, 53, is scheduled to be sentenced at the North Valley Superior Court in San Fernando on April 28.
McElveen retired in May of 1999 after serving with the SMPD for more than a decade. SMPD spokesman Lt. Frank Fabrega wouldn’t say how long McElveen was employed by the department.
The Agoura Hills man was arrested by L.A. County Sheriffs on Feb. 26 and charged with five counts of child molestation, including two acts of oral copulation, two acts of penetration with a foreign object and one count of performing a lewd act upon a child, according to Sandi Gibbons, spokeswoman for the L.A. County District Attorney office.
All of the alleged instances occurred in August of 2000 with an unidentified 13-or 14-year-old girl, Gibbons said.
McElveen’s bail is set at $215,000. He is in custody at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in L.A.
Karen Richardson, McElveen’s public defender, and Cheryl Gaines, the prosecutor on the case, did not return calls Wednesday seeking comment.
