The Santa Monica Conservancy will relive the Roaring ’20s. The group’s annual meeting will be held in the basement of The Georgian Hotel at 1415 Ocean Blvd. May 8 at 1:30 p.m., and will include a montage of 1920s imagery, jazz music and a live narration, official proceedings.

After the visual tour of Santa Monica during the ’20s, The Georgian’s bar and art deco lobby will be open to attendees.

A designated Santa Monica historic landmark, the Georgian also is a member of the Historic Hotels of America program established by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

The hotel, which recently underwent a $2 million renovation, opened during the height of the Depression and was considered to be one of the most modern and lavish spots of the time. Movie stars and mobsters were among its patrons.

The annual meeting is open only to Santa Monica conservancy members. For more information about the event or joining the conservancy, call (310) 458-0399 or visit www.smconservancy.org.

The Santa Monica Conservancy is a non-profit, community organization that’s dedicated to the preservation of Santa Monica’s cultural, historic and architectural heritage.
