Ron Gray Santa Monica The pot calling the kettle

Published:

By James Zeruk Jr. Santa Monica

The only joke bigger than our city Wi-Fi is the council members hell-bent on making sure my right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is violated in every way imaginable. Interesting how I often hear our city leaders, and other notable liberals in this town, cry about how President George W. Bush and The Patriot Act are tearing freedoms from the hearts and homes of citizens.

Ha! You guys — to a man and a woman — are a joke! What liberty has Bush taken from you? Was it Ol’ George who won’t let you smoke a cigarette as you sit on the beach, hundreds of yards away from the nearest person, but focussed in by the prying eyes of a cop’s telescope or city camera mounted on the pier?

Was it George Bush who will send the police to ticket — and even haul you to jail — for repeatedly smoking on the promenade, (as happened to me) or for daring to drink a beverage, or eat a meal from Styrofoam cups and plastic take-out containers?

Is it Bush who will fine you $250,000 (per day!) because the hedges of your yard are to high? Is it Bush who will tear down perfectly healthy trees from this city because a few rich people have the horrid sight of baby squirrels and birds near their second-floor windows along Second Street?

And now this evil George Bush … er, I mean, liberal, City Council of Santa Monica wants to tell us what we can and can not do in the privacy of our poorly-built, over-priced own homes and apartments.

Get the hell out of my house you evil infectors of liberty! Get the hell out now!

How dare you, Santa Monica. Shame on you. Shame on all of you!
