The City of Santa Monica marked the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks with a ceremony at Fire Station #1.
The department holds a brief, solemn ceremony each year in accordance with protocols recommended by the International Association of Fire Chiefs. The public was encouraged to attend alongside representatives from the Police Department and City Hall.
An artifact from the World Trade Center site is on display just outside the department's community room at Fire Station 1 and is open for public viewing during normal business hours.
