The Santa Monica College Theatre Arts Department will present "Animal Farm" Oct. 16-25 at the Theatre Arts Studio Stage on the SMC main campus, 1900 Pico Blvd.
Adapted by Nelson Bond from George Orwell's novella, the play is a satire about the seduction of power in which farm animals overthrow their human oppressor. The college describes it as a timely story and a timeless allegory about the many faces of tyranny.
SMC Theatre Arts instructor Terrin Adair directs the production.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Fridays, Oct. 16 and 23, and Saturdays, Oct. 17 and 24, with 2 p.m. matinees Sundays, Oct. 18 and 25. All performances are subject to change or cancellation without notice.
Advance tickets are $15 plus a service charge and can be purchased online at smc.edu/tickets or by calling 310-434-4165 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets bought on performance weekends at the Events Box Office in the Theatre Arts building cost $3 more.
