Santa Monica In response to critics

Published:

By Cecilia Rosenthal Santa Monica

In answer to Gera Korte’s letter (“Enough Already,” page 4, May 22, 2008), I regularly get similar remarks from acquaintances — “Forget the [ficus] trees,” they say. “Do something more important with your time,” etc.

It so happens that I work for (or against) what I consider the number one national problem and the number one local problem. My choice of national problem is the Iraq war, and it was at rallies against it that I learned of the Treesavers because so many of them… are anti-war activists. Is that a worthy enough cause for Korte? And if we can be advised how we can help with Korte favorites such as transients, murderers, unsafe crossings, bicycles, perhaps some of us can help with those.
