Santa Monica Name calling is universal

Re: What’s the Point article in SMDP 2/26/08 Hola. I don’t necessary disagree with anything you said, yet I think the falsehood of “victimhood” is that you have suffered something that nobody else has when in reality nobody escapes unfairness or ridicule in this world.

Sure gays and blacks have suffered. But who has-n’t? We are made up of thousands of categories, some of which we are in the majority and some we are in the minority. If gays get a parade and blacks get a month then what do Cub fans get? Why should-n’t short people have a month ( a short one like February) and fat people get a parade (sponsored by Haagen-Dazs)?

Ironically, I wore a scarf at Christmas and was called a faggot. So, you don’t even have to really be gay to get slammed like one. But it gets worse, so much worse. You see, I’m a … um, well … I’m a Republican who lives in Santa Monica. So I’ve been called much worse than a faggot by hate-filled residents. Their faces get all red and they act as if I’m the devil himself, which we all know I can’t possibly be because Bush is, right?

Or is it Cheney? I always get the Devil and the Antichrist mixed up.

My friend has had his car keyed and he even watched a guy actually jumped up and do cannon balls on his hood explaining that he was doing it because my friend had a “W” bumper sticker on his car.

So when do we Republicans get an endangered species plaque, a parade or at least an article of clothing that says “They did a cannon ball on my hood but all they gave me was this Obama T-shirt?”

P.S. Your article on why not to buy a condo was excellent.
