Santa Monica Time for city manager to think again

Published:

By Jon Mann Santa Monica A slice of Westside life Editor:

It seems like every new city manager is worse than the last... Our latest is implying that the movement to Save The Trees is representative of a few misguided, misinformed and misleading malcontents.

If anyone is misleading the public, it is you, (Lamont) Ewell. Surely, with an $8 million federal grant you can rescue any so called “damaged” trees and use rubber sidewalks to contain root systems. Don’t make the same mistake your predecessors made when they committed arbor-cide against the beautiful tree canopy that used to shade Pico Boulevard. The sorry trees that replaced them is further evidence of misdirection and municipal incompetence.

Get a clue and listen to the vast majority of those who live, work, go to school or own businesses in this city. Santa Monica may be a city of diverse views, but we are united on this issue.

Don’t murder the trees. How does that improve the pedestrian environment? The obvious solution is... move the location of the lights. It doesn’t take rocket science.
