Santa Monica Two cents

Published:

By David Spataro Santa Monica

Having digested a dose of both Steve Breen and Tim Dillenbeck, I find myself moved to add my humble $.02 worth of opinion. I have come to some tentative conclusions about this internecine chatter.

Yes, Breen at times does couch his thoughts in a grandiloquent style-nimble, yet convoluted, but he is at the same time lyrical, and his thinking subtle; showing much erudition. Good God, who knows what the heck he’s talking about with “A Bob Fosse Production of Plinian proportions,” except me of course. One question … was that the elder Pliny or Pliny the younger?

As for Tim, critic of Breen, he expresses himself with a crisp terseness that makes the point. On the other hand, his simmering ire bubbles over and vitiates his analysis, lending it a tendentious tone. His passionate petulance doesn’t work. All in all, Tim fails to deliver a critical recumbentibus.

One last word on the subject of so called “Obama bashing.” It’s perfectly legitimate to cite his lack of experience when the fate of this nation may be riding on this experience.
