Stunning discoveries of the Cassini spacecraft will be highlighted during “The Lord of the Rings Revisited: Cassini-Huygens at Saturn,” which continues to be the feature show May 5 and 12 at Santa Monica College’s Friday night astronomy series.

The guest lecture in May will concern “Atmosphere of Saturn and Other Jovian Planets.” Dr. Scott Edgington of the Jet Propulsion Lab’s Cassini-Huygens Mission to Saturn and Titan will talk about Saturn’s origin and evolution. The guest lecture will be Friday, May 26.

The feature show and guest lecture are at 8 p.m. Each is preceded by “The Night Sky Show” at 7 p.m., which re-creates the night sky and provides the latest information on space exploration.

The astronomy shows are held in the John Drescher Planetarium, which features the state-of-the-art Digistar projection system. It is located on the second floor of Drescher Hall, 1900 Pico Blvd. The guest lecture is in Science Lecture Hall 140. Plenty of energy at Santa Monica Festival
