Eliminate expensive bureaucracy and give the homeowners the choice to proceed with making their homes historical landmarks. Help rebuild Santa Monica to be the beautiful beach city it should be, not a collection of dilapidated structures. In the quest for statistical data, from an earlier letter “only 16 landmark houses and one small historic district in Ocean Park in over 26 years” have been created. How many developments have been slowed because of petitions to protect perceived historical landmarks? Multiply each of these by tens of thousands of dollars and see the impact of the existing historical landmarks ordinance.
