I really appreciated [John Whitehead’s opinion piece entitled] “Time for a Revolution,” page 5, July 14. At the end of the article Whitehead calls for “we the people” to “speak up.” … Gov. Schwarzenegger is implementing a cap and trade system which requires the largest polluters in the state, like the oil companies, to have permits for the pollution they create. We should make the oil companies pay for these permits and that money should go towards solutions like wind and solar power. If we can get the public to “speak up” for this idea we can make it happen.
