How slugs consummate is sure to be a sticky topic held at Santa Monica College. “A Slug’s Life: Sex, Habitat Choice and Speciation in the Sea” will be the topic of a free lecture at 11:15 a.m. Thursday, May 4, in science lecture Hall 145 at Santa Monica College, 1900 Pico Blvd.

The talk, which will be the last in SMC’s Spring 2006 “Distinguished Scientists Lecture Series,” is to be presented by Dr. Patrick J. Krug, assistant professor of biology at California State University at Los Angeles.

Krug will cover “desperate larvae, frustrated virgins and inappropriate sex between species” in the context of the life history of the sea slug.

Krug is a marine biologist who has received several prestigious research grants, has published numerous papers and has presented at seminars and symposia throughout the world.

The Distinguished Scientist Lecture Series is sponsored by the SMC Associates, a private organization that funds speakers and special events on campus.
