The Red Cross has begun a massive relief effort in response to the devastating tsunamis that occurred as a result of the 9.0 earthquake off the coast of Sumatra.
Due to the overwhelming damage and loss of life, the Red Cross will be unable to give information on the welfare of those living or visiting the affected areas for at least 48 hours. The Red Cross is in urgent need of financial donations to support its efforts. The Red Cross is not accepting in-kind donations, such as clothing and food due to the expense and logistical challenges of delivering the items.
If you would like to make a donation, send a check to the Santa Monica Red Cross with a note stating that you would like your contribution to support the Red Cross tsunami relief efforts. For more information, contact Tom Viscount at (310) 394-3773. The caroling company sings at St. Joseph Center
