(Editor’s note: The following was originally sent to the City Council) I am a resident of West Los Angeles, very near the West LA/Santa Monica border. I am a cyclist who utilizes a bicycle as my main mode of transportation throughout my neighborhood. Riding my bicycle into Santa Monica is a daily routine for me, as I attend school at the Art Institute of California — Los Angeles, as well as frequent the beach bike path.
In the next few months, I will soon become a permanent resident of Santa Monica. Feeling the pressure of the Santa Monica Police Department (witnessed at last month’s SM Critical Mass), I worry about the future of my being able to ride my bicycle in the city without feeling “bullied.”
I support the Santa Monica Critical Mass effort to promote safe cycling in the city of Santa Monica.
