For some, Saturdays mean hitting the high note along the ocean. Saturday Afternoons with Los Angeles Opera is a series of four multi-media talks highlighting the season’s operas and a concert. The series is kicking off its fourth year with “The ABCs of Opera: Aida, La boheme and Carmen” on Feb. 26. It continues on March 19 with the second event, “Verdi’s Falstaff.” “Behind the Scenes,” on April 9, will provide a peek into what it takes to produce an opera. “Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier” is the featured fourth event of the series on May 14. A community concert will finish out the series on June 11.
Each event begins at 2 p.m. and all ages are welcome at the Santa Monica Community & Cultural Services Senior Center, 1450 Ocean Ave. All events are free and open to the public. Seating is first come, first served.
