Speakers of the House, a Santa Monica-based rock band, will be throwing a party this Saturday to celebrate the release of their first CD, “Think Tank Television.”
The party will be held at midnight at the Viper Room. Revelers will receive a free copy of the CD when presenting their $8 ticket stub for the show. The four-man band is expected to run through songs from “Think Tank Television” as well as a few new ones yet to be recorded.
“Come sing and dance with us, party with us and get naked with us... yeah, get naked with us,” said Andrew De Lucia, a.k.a., “Lucius,” the band’s front man who plays guitar and produced the album.
With influences that range from Lou Reed, George Clinton and the Beastie Boys, the Speakers’ new 12-track album includes “Shaved,” a scintillating song recently made into a video that celebrates shiny bald anatomical parts. “No more locks and no more rough, ‘cause you know I can’t dive if the water’s too tough.” Stylized as a Burlesque comedy, the video features knife-throwing, shaved sheep, pigs, jesters and dancing dames, one of whom, dressed as a clown, is caught bathing in an antique tub. Directed by Tom Oesch, the “Shaved” video was filmed in March at the CIA Lounge in Hollywood, owned by an ex-mortician and freak show enthusiast.
Web sites that play the video often include musicplustv.com. For more information, log onto www.speakersofthe-house.tv.
