Letter: Criticism of Kenny Mack's column on the John Edwards affair report

By Cisci Deschaine Santa Monica

Regarding Kenny Mack’s column, “Word in Edgewise,” on Wednesday, July 30, he states: “If you haven’t heard about this, you’re missing one of the most compelling storylines to come out of this endless campaign.”

Kenny Mack, are you kidding me? This certainly is not one of the most compelling storylines of this campaign. Kenny Mack makes a large assumption that we need him to spread gossip (it isn’t news) about John Edwards’ alleged affair. Edwards’ family and wife, Elizabeth, are dealing with her cancer, which is incurable. Whether or not he had or is having an affair is none of our business, particularly at this time. It has nothing to do with politics. It’s not noteworthy. Do you need to force this story in her face in her last days? Is their no conscious editing by SMDP? If we want to read the hag rags, we’d pick them up. Please show some respect and selection next time before you put this garbage in your paper.
