Inspired by sacred objects from ancient civilizations, a new sculpture exhibit and multi-media art installation, entitled “The Circle of One: Contemporary Tantric Geometry,” opens with a reception on Saturday, April 21, from 8 p.m. — midnight. The exhibit will be on display through May 26, from 3 p.m. — 6 p.m., Monday through Friday and by appointment.
In their second collaborative effort, artists Antoine Bonsorte and Abram Zinberg use the symbolism of ancient cultures as a backdrop to present unique modalities of the circle emphasizing its power, depth and sensuality. Their modern interpretation of tantric form is realized through a combination of sculpture, film and music.
Renowned artist and designer Antoine Bonsortes’ photography and sculpture have been featured in many exhibits and films, most recently in “Superman” and “Memoirs of a Geisha.” Abram Zinberg, a passionate collector of African, Asian and Indonesian art, brings a deep understanding of many cultures to this artistic partnership by informing the exhibits’ universal sacred aesthetic. Bonsorte and Zinberg create a dialogue about how the nature of tantric forms and archaic symbolism can bring a heightened relevance to modern life.
The sculptures will be on display at the Bonsorte Studio, located at 2401 Lincoln Boulevard in Santa Monica, from April 21 through May 26. For more information, call (310) 450-5200 or visit www.bonsorte.com.
