PICO BOULEVARD — Santa Monica Police are looking for a suspect wanted in connection with the shooting of a teenage girl here over the weekend.

Shortly before 10 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to the 2700 block of Pico Boulevard regarding calls of shots fired. When officers arrived, they made contact with an injured girl, who had been shot in her right leg. The 17-year-old victim said she was walking into an apartment complex when she felt a sharp pain in her leg. Only then did she realize she had been shot, police said.

The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics before being transported to a local hospital. She was not able to describe the assailants.

“She never even heard the gunshot,” said SMPD Capt. Alex Padilla. “We’re still investigating, trying to get as many facts as possible.”

Anyone having information regarding the incident is encouraged to contact the Santa Monica Police Department at (310) 458-8491. Callers who wish to provide anonymous information may call the We-Tip national hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME (27463).
