Teenagers today can be square at the pier if they participate in a dance competition with actress Taryn Manning and recording artist Kimberly Caldwell.
Manning, an actress and singer in the band BOOMKAT, and Caldwell are hosting and judging the “Party Like A Square” dance competition where talented teens can show off their best “square” dance moves. The national dance contest will travel to 10 cities this summer.
Manning is currently filming “A Lot of Love” with Ashton Kutchner and Amanda Peet. A favorite contestant on American Idol, Caldwell’s new CD is expected in stores this summer.
The festivities include: ■ A custom-made gum truck that dispenses free gum. ■ The “Party Like A Square” Dance Competition. ■ Two winners take home tickets to a teen awards show, or tickets to a hot summer concert. ■ Listen to music spun by KISS-FM DJ Dave Styles. ■ A chance to appear on national TV, on Fox’s new entertainment show, “Cingular presents the Menu from Atlantis.” ■ A caricaturist. The event will be held from noon to 2 p.m., on the pier’s central plaza.
