Every morning I round the bend I see the Pacific, my lifelong friend She beckons me with open arms I lose myself in her infinite charms I wind my way down the Adelaide Stairs Forgetting my worries, I’ve nary a care I hop down Entrada to West Channel Road I watch the Pacific for me unfold As I slink through the tunnel to pounce on the sand I stumble across a tragic man The bum’s in bad shape, he’s lost in a haze I pray the man will see better days I hit the sand running, the birds see me coming They fly overhead, their beauty is stunning And there’s my amiga, all turquoise blue Her sea foam glistens as I think of you Her life gives me hope that I’ve found my true love She whispers to me, It’s in the stars above I feel her vibrations pulse through my veins It’s a life-giving force, calming and sane Before I return to the hustle and woes I blow her a kiss and dip in my toes I head back to the tunnel, kicking a rock I pass by the bum, still sleeping it off I see a magic garden on West Channel Road A mermaid, a captain and a cheerful old toad I bounce back up the Adelaide Stairs Passing strangers on the way, running in pairs When I reach the top, I blow one last kiss It’s the stairway to heaven and eternal bliss.
