Think your house is old? Come compare this Saturday at the fourth annual Venice Architectural Tour. The tour will feature homes designed by Steven Ehrlich, Robert Glaus, William Pauli, Ron Radziner, Larry Scarpa and Toby Watson, among others. This is an opportunity to see examples of vintage California craftsman homes in their original or restored prime. Some of these homes date back as far as the early 1900s.
As a highlight, Jay Griffith, Venice-based landscape designer and Venice Garden Tour founder, will lead a private tour to select estates in Santa Monica Canyon and Pacific Palisades, including two homes listed on the National Register of Historic Places. One of the homes was designed in 1936 by Richard Neutra and featured in the movie Laurel Canyon. The other is a 1949 Cliff May home, restored by the Marmol Radziner architectural firm.
Tax-deductible tickets, which include lunch, are available for $300 each. Funds raised from the tours go to benefit the nonprofit neighborhood youth associations Las Doradas Children’s Center and the Learning Center, both of which serve at-risk children and their families in Venice and Mar Vista.
The tours take place this Saturday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For information call (310) 821-2429, or e-mail, or visit www.venicegardentour.org. Latina ladies assemble
