The topic for discussion at Santa Monica College will be out of this world. “QuickSCAT: The Little Spacecraft that Could” — which will focus on the spacecraft’s discoveries about Earth’s atmosphere and oceans — is the guest lecture March 31 in Santa Monica College’s Friday night astronomy series.
The guest lecturer will be Kelly Perry, engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab. The guest lecture is at 8 p.m. in science lecture hall 140. It is preceded by “The Night Sky Show” — which re-creates the night sky and provides the latest information on space exploration — at 7 p.m. in the John Drescher Planetarium, which features the state-of-the-art Digistar projection system.
Both the science complex and the Planetarium are located on the college’s main campus at 1900 Pico Blvd.
Tickets are $5 each or $9 for the “double bill,” with discounts for children and senior citizens. For information, call (310) 434-3000.
