The Victorian, the restaurant and nightlife venue located in a historical Victorian-style house on Main Street, is closing after 20 years.

The venue announced the news on Instagram on October 5th at approximately 4:30 p.m. "After 20 incredible years, The Victorian is closing its doors," the post read, "but not before we say thank you.”

Its final weekend will be its annual Halloween party, which leaves four more weekends before doors close for good.

"To everyone who has ever danced with us, drank with us, celebrated with us, brought your friends, met someone new, or made a memory under our roof, thank you," the announcement said. "You made The Vic what it was."

During the day, the Victorian operated as a restaurant, wedding and event venue. At night, it became a multi-level nightclub, offering DJs and live music in the basement, the main floor and in the upstairs on weekend nights. The venue was also known for its long-running “Salsa Thursday” nights.

The post did not give a reason for the closure or explain what will happen to the building after the closure. The property, located at 2640 Main St. in Heritage Square, is owned by the City of Santa Monica.
