The John Wayne Cancer Institute Auxiliary (JWCIA) will hold its annual fund-raising gala, the Odyssey Ball, on Saturday, April 9, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. American Classics: The music, movies, and people we love is the theme of the black tie event, which will be celebrating its 20th anniversary.

The Odyssey Ball features dinner and dancing to the classic tunes of Art Deco and his Society Orchestra. A reception and silent auction begin at 6 p.m.

Supporters of the John Wayne Cancer Institute since its inception, Diana and Robert W. Thom will be presented with the Special Service Award, affectionately known as the “Duke.” Bob Thom serves as a Trustee of the Institute and, along with Diana, participates in all of the organization’s fundraising events.

The “Duke” award is presented each year to people who have made contributions to the fight against cancer or who have demonstrated a humanitarian spirit in the community.

The John Wayne Cancer Institute Auxiliary was founded in 1982. The Auxiliary has grown to more than 800 members. Proceeds raised at all Auxiliary events support the John Wayne Cancer Institute. Since its inception, the Auxiliary has raised more than $12 million.
