Who knew that art, competition, and philanthropy could actually intersect? Only in Venice.
Get ready for a night of competition and aesthetic pleasure at the Venice Art Walk Live Auction Celebration. Taking place at the Venice Studio of contemporary artist Laddie John Dill, the live auction will present works by more than 10 artists, including Dill himself. More than 200 artists, collectors, and patrons are expected to attend, including actor Cheech Marin, honorary chair for the evening, and Robert Berman of Berman/Turner Projects and Santa Monica Auctions, as the featured auctioneer.
Funds raised by the benefit art auction will go to the Venice Family Clinic, the largest free clinic in the United States, and will further support its work in providing medical care to uninsured individuals and families in Los Angeles County who have no access to medical care.
A prelude to the 2005 Venice Art Walk, the Live Art Auction Celebration will not only auction pieces but will show the talents of featured artists through its paraphernalia. Renowned Live Art Auction participants, Patssi Valdez and Robert Graham contributed to the design of the Art Walk’s collectible poster and T-shirt, which will make their debut at the event.
The Venice Art Walk Live Art Auction Celebration will take place today, May 12, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., located at 1625 Electric Ave. To purchase tickets priced at $150 per person or $250 per couple, call (310)392-9255 or www.venice-familyclinic.org. ‘Einstein’s Universe’ soars to SMC’s planetarium
