Enough already with the saga of the ficus trees and the grubby hippie brigade lead by Jerry Rubin. How many Santa Monica residents actually give a damn about the ficus trees? Cut them down, plant a new tree or bush or whatever, and get on with your little lives. We are tired of seeing your picture in the paper, and why does the SMDP insist on giving this “story” any further coverage? Instead of chaining himself to a tree, maybe Mr. Rubin should “take on” global warming and chain himself to a moving bus. That would be picture worthy! It’s going to be great when this wing nut is elected to City Council. It will be fun to watch the city implode to a further state of decay.
