Updating local history

Published:

In the ongoing quest to preserve significant buildings, City Hall is looking to pay more than $33,000 extra to Jones & Stokes Associate in order to research and document a potential historic district.

The consultant has been working with City Hall since August 2006 on updating the existing Historic Resources Inventory, which currently contains 1,300 historically significant properties. The list was compiled from surveys conducted between 1983 and 1993 and four updates since then.

Jones & Stokes will conduct further research on the possible formation of the Gillette Regent Square Historic District north of Montana Avenue, encompassing an area of roughly 550 parcels.
