SM PIER — “Venice” and the Irish-influenced “Young Dubliners” will perform tonight at the pier as a part of the weekly Twilight Dance Series.

Concerts are held at 7:30 p.m. every Thursday through Sept. 2 on the Santa Monica Pier. Admission is free.

Since local group “Venice” was formed in the 1980s, its surf-scented harmonies and folk-pop sounds have earned the respect of many discerning critics. The band includes the cousins and brothers Kipp, Michael, Pat and Mark Lennon. It recently released “Spin Art.”

After touring across Europe with Jethro Tull and performing for athletes and fans around the world at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, the “Young Dubliners” released their new album “Absolutely.” The band is known for Celtic-influenced rhythm and features Keith Roberts, Bob Boulding, Bren Holmes, David Ingram and Chas Waltz.

Next week, the series features the bands “Les Yeux Noirs” and “Quetzal.”

Pier officials strongly recommend walking, biking or riding the bus to the concerts, as parking is limited. A free shuttle is available from the 2030 Barnard Way lot south of the pier starting at 6 p.m. each Thursday.

For bus information call (310) 441- 5444 or visit www.bigbluebus.com. For more information on the concerts, call the Santa Monica Pier information line at (310) 458-8900 or visit www.twilight-dance.org and www.santamonicapier.org.
