We all see the trash that is left on the beach after a busy weekend. Some is left by those who are careless. Some spread from trash cans by ravaging sea gulls. But what is most disturbing to me is the waste on and around our Santa Monica lifeguard towers. I have watched the local lifeguards pick up cigarette butts and used condoms from on and around their posts. I have found that this is more than just a once in a while occurrence and happens a few times a week for some time now. It is sad to think what goes on [at] the beach after dark. In such a great city it is hard to believe this continues to happen.
