Wake-up call for city’s homeless

Published:

By Matthew Muzio Santa Monica

When I walked up to my dentist on Wilshire (Boulevard) at 8:30 a.m., I saw more homeless people than actual residents of Santa Monica. There was so much garbage on the ground it resembled Newark, New Jersey. Can’t Santa Monica do better?

They need to allocate money to really try to help the homeless problem, rather than hand out food on the Palisades. Also, they should think about passing a law that there is no sleeping in public, and I am not talking about a little common nap in the park. This will end the fact that residents and taxpayers can’t enjoy the parks and the Palisades to its fullest capacity. The homeless problem is slowly getting worse and worse in Santa Monica, as Downtown LA is dispersing their problem into other communities.

It's time Santa Monica steps up for itself and adjacent towns and counties, and face this problem head on. Either that or become a gated community.
